Getting enough sleep is one of the best things you can do for beautiful skin, a healthy body, and a clear mind. Yet so many of us don’t get enough sleep. We blame our busy lifestyles, not being able to shut off our brains, we buy expensive beds that promise better sleep…but we still have problems sleeping. Could there be a much simpler solution?
Imagine you are in a comfortable hotel room, looking forward to unwinding and planning to get a good night’s sleep before facing the rigors of the morning. You settle down and the next thing you know, it’s morning and you’re completely rested.
Then you cast your mind to your own bedroom and start to wonder what you’re doing wrong, because your sleep at home never seems to be as good as it should be, and certainly nothing like that hotel room.
Ever notice how most hotel rooms share?a similar layout? Much of sleep quality?comes down to how your bedroom is arranged; something that hoteliers have worked on for decades to get the right combination of furniture, fixtures and fittings, and ensuring that heating and light can easily be controlled.
There’s nothing complicated about making sure your bedroom is fit for a good night’s sleep ? you just need to implement some simple guidelines.
Increase comfort and calm, decrease problems sleeping!
Your bedroom should be a peaceful haven that you can retire to with?the knowledge that you will be comfortable and sleep well. One key area to think about is what to put in it. Naturally, there will be a bed, positioned if possible in the center of the biggest wall, as well as a couple of bedside tables for those essentials such as a glass of water, spectacles, clocks (silent, of course, until you need an alarm call) and books or other reading material for when you’re having a cozy morning lie-in.
Try to eliminate clutter, such as piles of clothes and things you’ve set down around the room that you’ve been meaning to put in a cupboard but never got around to cleaning up ? now is the time. Too much additional furniture can also add to the sense of not enough space, so consider restricting yourself to an attractive dresser, and go for built in wardrobes for clothes and shoe storage.
The mattress is extremely important. It’s worth spending that bit extra on high quality for the comfort it will provide while you sleep. The same goes for your bed linen and pillows. You need what’s comfortable; so don’t scrimp on these items. Bed linens with a good thread count add to the warm feeling of being cosseted in your bed.
Colors and light
You want your bedroom to be a calming space, so choose wall and ceiling colors that will enhance that sense of peacefulness. The warmth of gentle lilac or purple can create a feeling of relaxation. Make the most of the cooler colors of nature too, such as greens and yellows, to reflect the outside environment.
Light levels are always important in a bedroom, and your ability to control levels is an important factor when it comes to your comfort. This is where window shutters to control light come in. Stylish and attractive, they complement any type of bedroom decor. With styles such as double hung, you can open the upper panels for maximum light in the room during the day, and then keep things dark at night.
Sleep well
When you’ve arranged your bedroom to match comfort with style by thinking through your space and the furnishings, you’ll have created the ideal place for relaxing and getting the sleep you need and deserve.
